So many forums are obsessed with silly rules, Hamster Fanatic Forum is aiming to be less restrictive, however we want this to be a fun and helpful place, and if we all follow a few simple guidelines it will remain so.
1 - Flaming/being abusive/harassment or the use of bad language is not allowed, this includes Internet slang. Anyone joining this forum with the sole purpose of causing trouble or advertising their own forum/website will not be tolerated. This is a family friendly site and anyone found making inappropriate posts, or sending unsolicited promotional personal messages will either have a verbal warning from a moderator and/or issued a temporary suspension. If their behaviour still does not change then their membership will be permanently suspended. Instant bans will be issued for serious breaking of these rules. This will include an IP address ban. Making multiple user names for the purpose of voting or misleading the other members is not allowed, if you wish to change your user name please contact the admin, don't just register again, we can and do check these against your IP address and duplicate accounts will be removed.
2 - Please try and keep the use of slang to a minimum, it makes the board hard to read for members whose first language isn't English and plain confuses the rest of us!
3 - Please try and keep signatures to a reasonable size, it makes the board hard to load for users with a slow Internet connection, although we are fairly relaxed about this rule, feel free to express yourself - within reason. You are allowed to post a small link to your own personal site or blog in your signature as long as it contains no adult orientated content and is all your own work or is relevant to Hamster or pet care, links will be checked and removed if found to be in breach of this rule. Links to commercial sites are not allowed. This is not the place to start plugging your wares.
4 - We encourage our members to only bring up old topics if they think they can add something new or useful, look at the date of the original post before you submit something and ask yourself if its still relevant. You will not be warned for doing so, unlike some sites we encourage all input without recrimination.
5 - Please try and post in the right section, you have more chance of receiving an answer.
6 - Please do not use/copy anything from this forum without getting the owners permission. This is considered theft.
7 - Please be respectful of other peoples opinions, we may not all agree on a given topic but please do not resort to being rude or abusive to other users to get your point across. Advice is better received when given in a civil and respectful manner. We are proud of our reputation as a place where you can be be free from fear of flaming, the admin and moderators will defend this right without question.
8 - If you are under 18, we can only advise for your own safety please do not give your address, phone number, Yahoo/MSN/AIM messenger identity or email to anyone who you do not know and trust. Personal photos are allowed to be posted on the board and in your profile at your own discretion.
9 - We are not qualified vets and can only offer advice and support. If your Hamster has a serious health problem then please seek veterinary advice. We CAN NOT be held responsible for any loss from following advice given by individuals on this board, the opinions given here are NOT necessarily the opinion of the management of the site.
