It's the frame for the mesh. Basically the corner bits are squares with "tabs" that slot into the edging. Some bright spark has snapped the tabs inside the edging, but htere seems to be no way of removing it!

Hopefully this worked....the edging is the bit I need to replace if possible and ASAP, as the poor mouse in the roddy cage is getting seriously knocked about. (He's surprisingly calm about it, but I'm not!)

Have you looked in a large B&Q - they have lots of bits of plastic edging but I don't think I've seen a bit as flat as that would have to be to slide in the top of the tank.

I'm sorry - all I can suggest is to send that picture to the same place and see if they can help.

Only other thing I can think of is getting two strips of thin plastic and glueing them to either side of the mesh to make it stiff so it will slide in.

I cut up all sorts of things in an effort to make things work

I did consider those folder edgings as a replacement,but I'm not sure the plastic is strong enough.

Well, called them again and asked for the same lady. She says it will be easier to order a new lid and offered to do it for trade; which is still about £15 for a lid. So much for the tank being a bargain....

That's a shame, at least you'll have a secure lid now though. I guess it's just one of those things

Have you ordered it? If not you could make one yourself for a few quid - you really dont need to have a degree in DIY! It really is a bargain at £15 though if you can afford it!
